Halloween Through the Ages

Halloween is this Saturday, and this past weekend I spent my time coming up with a costume. It took a while, but I finally decided to be Mary Poppins. Because I spent my time thinking about costumes, I also thought about the costumes I have worn in the past. I had a fun time doing that, so I decided to share as much as I remember.

2000- I was actually born on this Halloween, so I didn't get a costume
2001- I might have been a pumpkin
2002- Same as 2001
2003- Same as 2002
2004- I'm pretty sure that I was a ballerina
2005- A witch
2006- I was a doctor for school and a witch for trick or treating
2007- I was Cleopatra
2008- I honestly do not remember
2009- I was a purple vampire either this year or the next
2010- I was a purple vampire... maybe
2011- I was Amelia Earhart
2012- I was Amelia Earhart for school and a minion from Despicable Me for trick or treating
2013- I was a fifties girl
2014- I was a pirate
2015- This year I am going to be Mary Poppins

Honor Is Dead

Honor Is Dead

"Honor is dead." This is a quote that I got from my favorite book, The Way of Kings, by Brandon Sanderson. I liked the quote so much that I decided to write a poem for it. It's pretty cool.

An ocean of night blots out all you can see, except for one small flickering bird.
The tiny animal flaps its wings, trying to remain aloft, but it drifts ever closer to the stormy sea beneath it, the  frothing waves of pitch black waiting to consume its dimming light.
At last the light goes out, and the bird folds its wings over its body in a final attempt to withstand the ocean  of night.
Despite its best efforts, the bird is completely engulfed and the blinking light disappears.

 Honor is dead.

As the tiny body disappears in the waves, a new creature takes form.
Large wings unfold and an inky black form
 takes shape.
With a flap and a lunge, the bird takes flight.
With a shriek and a crow it begins its piercing song of hate.
The never ending tune chants words of deceit and lies, it stops any light from shining.

Honor is dead, but another creature lives.

Sad News

I have sad news for you, but not for me. As of today, there will be no more posts published me. At least for a couple of weeks. However, there will be posts by October 31. Since many of you are freaking out, bursting into tears, collapsing on the ground, and lamenting the loss of their favorite thing to read, I will let you know that I am working on something huge that will make up for all nonexistent posts. You're welcome.

The First Day of October

It's a special day. It's a beautiful day. It's a day that promises fun and joy in the future. Today is the first day of October, a month full of color, changing leaves, and the start of the holiday season. Could today be any better?
